The greatest title that I’ve ever been given is “dad” and I have devoted more of my life to my 5 children than any other single thing. Now that my children have children of their own I’ve been given a new title, “Poppa Bear”. It’s a title that I wear with honor. My two daughters gave me that name when they were little girls and it’s now spread to common use by all the grandchildren.
My two little girls hold a magical place in my soul and giving them away was one of the hardest thing that I’ve ever had to do. I am so proud of my daughters but I do miss those little girls dancing on my shoe tops in the mornings before school.
I also raised three boys who are now men. They are fine men indeed. It’s one of life’s great pleasures to watch a little boy become a man. I got to do that three times. So fortunate.
Over the years I gathered this list of traits that I hoped to instill in my sons.
This list is by no means exhaustive but it’s some of the things that I wanted my boys to learn at my house. Only time will tell if I succeed in my responsibility as a father. May the grace of the Heavenly Father make up the difference. So here’s the list of 10 things every man should know.

2. How to read the Bible.
3. How to honor his father & mother.
4. How to treat a lady.
5. How to treat other people.
6. How to take care of himself.
7. How to earn a living.
8. How to manage his money.
9. How to fight for what he believes in.
10. How to make wise choices.
