500 Miles and 32 Pounds

Last October Rachel and I decided to make some changes in our diet and exercise. I turned 60 years old on October 4th and I’d like to be around for a few more decades to see my grandchildren, should Jesus tarry. I weighed 255 pounds and a felt tired and sluggish most days and I knew my diet was the cause. Bread, ice cream, root beer and sweets in general were my weakness. Carbs and sugar or as we call them in the country, HAPPINESS.

Rachel led the way in changing our diet. She started fasting regularly and cutting out carbs and sugar so I followed her lead and we saw some results. The results were slow but steady until we moved to a diet of mostly meat and water and then the change happened more rapidly. In January we went on an extensive fast with the church and that helped tremendously. Overall I have dropped to 223 pounds since October and I’m keeping it off.

I plant lose about 15 more pounds because I feel my best at about 210.
Today my blood pressure is normal, my testosterone level is normal and I have so much more energy.
Hatch and I decided to crank up our daily walks and now we are walking two miles everyday. We first set a goal of walking 500 miles this year and we are on pace to far exceed that goal.
So since October of last year our health has taken a huge turn for the better and Hatch is loving to long walks. Unfortunately, Hatch is still on the chubby side, but he is happy.
