Cheddar Poppers and Puppy Dogs

We were out of town last weekend because Rachel and I were speaking at Gateway Church in Shreveport so I'm about two days behind on sermon prep for this Sunday at Journey. On Wednesday night me and Hatch worked late into the night doing research and prep for this Sunday's sermon notes. Around 1 o'clock this morning I heard Hatch scratching at the front door giving me the signal that he wants to go out. I tried to ignore him, thinking that maybe he was just bored but he kept scratching. So we took a walk around the apartment complex at 1 o'clock in the morning and the dog loved it. Hatch always struts around the lake like he's about to get onto a yacht. He is very confident even at 1 o'clock in the morning. When we got back inside I remembered that there were some cheddar poppers in the freezer. As you know a "cheddar popper" is a small hot pepper stuffed with cheese, breaded and deep-fried. So Hatch cranked up the oven to 450 degrees and I put the cheddar poppers in for a midnight snack. We still had hours to go on sermon prep but 16 minutes later the timer went off and our snack was ready. Hatch turned the TV on and found some Christmas music and I settled back down on the couch to enjoy some peppers and finish my notes.

Hatch and I wrapped up the notes around 5 AM today just in time to make coffee and get our day started. Ms Rachel joined us for a cup of coffee and then me and Hatchy went for another morning walk and this time we made it all the way around the lake. It was a great night of sermon prep, hanging out with my dog and eating cheddar poppers at 1 AM.
Hatch just said, "Life is good". Yes it is boy…yes it is.
