I was talking to my dog Hatch this morning. It's still cold here in South Louisiana and it seems like it rains almost every day. We were up before
sunrise so we caught a glimpse of some of the stars in the morning sky. They were breathtaking. The great Creator of the universe knows how to throw a good morning party. Hatch started asking me about the stars in the sky, things like; How many were there? How far away are they? and several more questions that I couldn’t answer. So we looked it up on DuckDuckGo.com (Hatch doesn’t like Google) The answers we found were jaw dropping. Amazing. He wanted to share a few things with you today that he learned about the stars.
Hatch discovered this info today about the stars!
*The Universe is considered by some to be infinite!
*Throughout the ages of space exploration, the only certain thing is maybe the fact that the Universe will never be charted.
*Why is this? It’s because of the endless galaxies that seem to pop out left and right.
*So how many galaxies are there in the Universe? Currently, the observable Universe, which has a radius of 46.5 billion light-years, seems to contain at least TWO TRILLION GALAXIES.
*Each galaxy has hundreds of billions of stars.
*The nearest Galaxy to our own is 158,000 light years away.
*If travel at the speed of light were possible (but it’s not) it would take you 158,000 YEARS to get to the nearest neighbor. And that’s the nearest one!
*In our own Milky Way galaxy there are at least 100 Billion other stars besides our sun.
*It’s mind boggling to think of the sheer size of creation but it gives us some understanding of the power of the Creator.
He made it all out of nothing in 6 days!
Psalms 147:4
He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
