Quintillion

So I've been teaching Hatch how to count this month.

We've been counting from 1 to 100 and then one to 1000 for the last few weeks and this morning I introduced to him the concepts of 1 million and 1 billion and that blew his mind. He wanted to know what came after million and billion so we went through the math chart all the way up to one quintillion. You probably already know but Hatch didn't know that a quintillion is one followed by 27 zeros! Thats a BIG number.

So then I told Hatch the story that I used last Sunday in my sermon on the prophecies of the Old Testament about the Messiah.

There are more than 300 old testament prophecies that predict the circumstances and events related to the coming Messiah. To be precise there are 365 prophecies and the New Testament declares that Jesus fulfilled them all. It just seems incredible that prophecies written hundreds of years before the events by different men in different cultures and countries could all come together and be fulfilled by one single individual in one lifetime. But that's exactly what happened.

     Jesus fulfilled them all.

What is the probability that one man could fulfill ALL of the prophecies of the Old Testament?

That brings us back to Quintillion.

Dr Peter Stoner...

    (1888-1980)

Who was Chairman of the Departments of Mathematics and Astronomy at Pasadena City College until 1953 and is best known for his book "Science Speaks" that discusses, among other things, Bible prophecies vis a vis probability estimates and calculations, calculated the probability that one person could fulfill those prophecies.

Dr. Stoner narrowed it down from 300+ prophecies to just EIGHT!

He looked at the probability that one man, Jesus Christ, could have fulfilled even 8 of the 365 prophecies that pertain to Him in the Bible.

This is Dr Stoner's conclusion:

The probability that Jesus could fulfill 8 of the 365 OT prophecies is:

1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000

That is

1 in 10 Octillion!

Octillion!

That is 10 followed by 27 zeroes.

BUT! Jesus not only fulfilled EIGHT prophecies, He fulfilled ALL 365 prophecies.

The probability of that is nearly incalculable.

What if the Bible is true and Jesus is the Son of God.

Do you believe?
