Sabbatical

We took a month long sabbatical in February and spent most of the month in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, except for the first three days when we were in Williamstown, Kentucky visiting The Ark Encounter. Rachel and I stayed at a little house in town about 10 minutes from the Ark and spent the days at the Creation Museum

(45 minutes away) and The Ark Encounter studying the truth of Gods Word. We learned so much and think every believer would benefit from a visit to both of these ministries.

The fourth day of our sabbatical we traveled to Pigeon Forge and spent the balance of our time in a cabin overlooking the valley. The weather was mild and beautiful most days with some rain and only one day of snow.

The tourist flock to the mountains in the Spring, Summer and Fall but not so much in the Winter. We were there all month long in February and the traffic was very light for the most part.

Most of our children and grandchildren joined us for the final week there and it was a wonderful time together. We rented a large cabin on a hill overlooking Pigeon Forge, with an incredible view of the mountains and just reveled in our family time together.

To be sure we stayed busy every day but the highlight of the trip for us was our meals together. Each morning we would get up early and make breakfast for the entire family. The smell of bacon is magical in the morning and by the time breakfast was ready we all had gathered in the dining room and spent the morning talking, laughing and telling stories.

And eating lots of bacon and eggs.

Well it’s good to be home and we are ready to get back to work. I’m opening a new sermon series this Sunday called “HANDWRITING”. It’s a series on the End Times. I just got back from walking Hatch and meditating on Part 1 of the series, “The Rapture of the Church”. I hope you can join us live this Sunday at Journey or Online on the Journey App or at jf.church.

It’s good to be home.

We missed you.
