Space

There are different kinds of space in the world; personal space, storage space, outer space. You get it. I’ll be teaching on a new series all month long at Journey on that very topic. Space!
Here are some of the things that I’ve been talking to Hatch about lately. Some of this was his idea. Smart dog.

Of all the wonderful things that the Creator made with His own hands He made more SPACE than anything else.
There is so much space in our solar system that we had to create a way to measure it.
Astronomical Unit - AU a system of space measurement inside our Solar System.

An AU is the distance from the Earth to the Sun. Roughly 93,000,000 miles.

The Earth is 1 AU from the Sun.
Mars is 1.5 AU from the Sun.
Pluto is 39 AU from the Sun.
The nearest star (Proxima Centauri) to Earth is 275,000 AU from Earth. The AU systems works best inside our solar system because once you get into interstellar the numbers are just too big to comprehend. So we created another measuring system, the light year.

Lightyear is a system of measuring space outside our solar system. Interstellar space.

It is the distance light travels in one year at a constant speed of 186,000 miles per second.

A light year actually measures time and not space.

Using the Lightyear measurement the nearest star to Earth would be 4.39 lightyears from us.

That’s the nearest star. There are trillions of other stars in galaxies stretched across the universe and the space is so vast between them that we haven’t even created a way for the common man to measure that space yet.

We just call it…Infinity.

The fastest space probe built by humans can travel at 52,000 mph.
At that speed it would take 54,000 years to reach the nearest star. Proxima Centauri.

Or 750 lifetimes.

Or just Infinity!

This month we are going to explore some of the SPACES that He created in the Word.

~David’s pouch
~Jesus’ tomb
~ Peter’s boat

Jesus has a plan for the empty space in your life.

Maybe that’s what Loneliness is…us learning how to live in this vast creation of space.

What if God is working in you, even in your loneliness?!
Especially in your loneliness.
